Funding Opportunities

 

Listed below are potential funding sources for Neighborhood Connections grantees.

 

The Cityworks Neighborhood Matching Grant Program offers funding up to $3,000 to community-based organizations for neighborhood improvement and community projects. Awardees will be responsible for matching contributions, which may be cash, volunteer labor, donated professional services, donated materials or supplies, and/or borrowed equipment. The Cityworks deadline is usually sometime in April. Call the City of Cleveland at 216.664.2000 for more information.

 

The Cleveland Colectivo welcomes individuals, new businesses, and community projects to participate. Grant amounts will range between $500 and $5,000, based on the number of projects selected. Visit www.clevelandcolectivo.org for more information.

Gardening for Greenbacks grants are available up to $3,000 for market gardeners in the City of Cleveland. These grants are sponsored by the City of Cleveland’s Department of Economic Development in partnership with the Cleveland Department of Public Health, the New Agrarian Center, The Ohio State University Extension, and Case Western Reserve University. The Ohio Arts Council is a state agency that funds and supports quality arts experiences to strengthen Ohio communities culturally, educationally, and economically. They offer a host of community programs that offer training and funds for small and emerging arts organizations. The programs include Art Access, Arts Innovation, Capacity Building, and the Building Cultural Diversity Initiative.

 

The ReImagining A More Sustainable Cleveland Grant Program offers grants up to $20,000 for projects on vacant city land bank lots. Grants can be used for a wide variety of projects, including rain gardens, native plantings, community gardens, walking paths, gateway landscaping, side yard expansions, market gardens, vineyards, and orchards. The Self-Development of People Fund (SDOP) of the Presbyterian Church (USA) makes grants to community groups who are working to improve their economic condition. Projects can be either start-up small businesses or grassroots non-profit organizations. Call Dick Obermanns at 216.752.3301 or by email at obermanns@aol.com. The SDOP Committee welcomes proposals from all groups without regard to affiliation.

 

The United Black Fund of Greater Cleveland has financially assisted many non-profit organizations in the Greater Cleveland area. An important part of the philosophy is to insure that non-profit charitable organizations serving the poor, Black, and other minorities receive an equitable share of the charitable dollars. United Black Fund of Greater Cleveland funds over 80 non-profit agencies annually.
